Despite its name, buckwheat is not actually wheat, in fact, it’s not even a grain - it’s the seed of a fruit. It isn’t related to wheat at all, it comes from the sorrel, knotweed and rhubarb family and it’s gluten free!

Our buckwheat is activated. This means that we soak it, wash it and rinse it to remove the enzyme inhibitors. It is then dehydrated at a low temperature (less than 40 degrees Celsius) to create this delicious, superfood breakfast cereal.

Our Deluxe Buckinis are a whole food mix, which includes our Caramelised Buckinis, a generous selection of superfoods such as Maca and Mesquite, seasonal fruits, activated seeds and nuts.

Our Buckinis boxes are printed with vegetable based inks on 100% post consumer recycled fiber. These boxes are recyclable.

The Inner Bag is home compostable and made using sustainably managed plant sources such as non-GMO corn and wood cellulose. The bag is home compostable under conditions where heat, water, soil, oxygen and microorganisms are present.

This high barrier packaging is perfectly suitable to keep your Buckinis fresh and crunchy and does not contribute to landfill if disposed off properly – this is something, which we are very proud of!

*Please note – the bulk Deluxe Buckinis are packed in a single 5kg bag, not multiple 500g bags. Due to a shortage in supply, the bulk pack will be available with currants instead of White Mulberries and Cranberries instead of Goji Berries.

**Goji Berries are highly sought after as a premium health food, but due to their sensitive growing requirements, they are hard to cultivate in an organic context, and thus also extremely difficult to source as a certified organic ingredient.

We are in the process of sourcing certified organic Goji Berries, which we hope to achieve in the later half of 2015. To sustain the availability of these products in our range in the meantime, we are temporarily using conventional Goji Berries in the recipes, all other ingredients remain certified organic (excluding the salt).
