ThatRedHouse -  Organic Soapberries

How would you like a 100% natural cleaner that grows wild in the Himalayas and has been used for centuries in India, China and Nepal? Soapberries are the natural alternative to traditional laundry detergents and fabric softeners. They are often called 'soap nuts', but they are not nuts at all. They are in fact a fruit, specifically, they are the fruit of the Sapindus mukorossi tree.

Simply place a small handful of these amazing soapberries into the small wash bag (included) and throw them in with your washing. They will leave your laundry clean and fresh for around 6 washes, no need for any other cleansers or fabric softeners. They're safe for grey water and septic systems and are non-allergenic. At around 10 cents per wash, why would you use anything else?

That Red House Soapberries are harvested from wild trees in the pristine Himalayan mountains of Nepal by small local communities. Your purchase supports the 'Grow Nepal' initiative which creates a future for the Nepalese people, and encourages sustainable practices across the planet.

How Do I Use Them ?

Washing Clothes - Just put 4-8 half shells in the unbleached natural cotton bag provided. Pop the bag in the washing machine with your clothes, no need for fabric softener but to add a scent you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil. Suitable at any temperature, pre-wash or rinse cycles and on delicate fabrics. Shells can be re-used 5-6 times, discard any remains into your compost heap when they go dark brown and soggy. For an even brighter clean, try combining with MiEco Oxygen bleech.

Liquid Soap - A liquid soap can be made by simmering 50g of soapberries in 1L of water for 10 minutes. When cool, the mixture can either be strained or put in a blender.

Cleaning Jewellery - Soapberries are used as a jewellery polish in India, soak jewellery in soapberry water then rub, rinse and polish with a soft cloth.

Washing Pets - Dirt and many parasites can be removed from pet fur and skin by washing in a mild solution of soapberry and your animal's fur will be left clean and soft.

House Cleaning - Because of the natural nature of soapberries, all household cleaning can be done from top to bottom, inside and out including windows, which will be left sparkling after a quick polish with paper towel when dry.

Car Washing - Add a few soapberry pieces to a bucket of water and wash your car as usual then polish to a good shine when dry.
